Artist Statement Welcome to my website...it is a collection of digital art that combines my 45 years of photography and some art painting experience. I have taken the images beyond what was captured on film or digitized and have created art in a non-traditional, but ever increasingly popular, art style.
About My Work ... My guidance is what I see as the image is painted digitally....the values, hues, composition, and feel of the work. It is an amalgam of camera, computer, digital paint brush, and printing media.  More importantly, it combines realistic photos with unique artistic interpretation (after all, no two artists are alike). Computer technology has enabled me to add other elements of texture, abstraction, and other elements to create works that balance realism and abstractionism. I achieve an effect that plays with the viewer’s eye and imagination, bridging the gap that has separated digital art from traditional, sometimes stuffy techniques and traditions.

About me....
I worked as a federal scientist for 30 years and did my art on the "side" as a hobby. I began photography at age 17 with a used Nikkormat, picked up digital photography in the 1990s with a Canon point and shoot, upgraded to Nikon about two years ago, and recently discovered Corel Painter 11. My art was limited to free hand drawing and a few prisma-color and watercolor works.

Here in north central Texas, the landscapes are mostly limited by flat terrain embedded in a sprawling sea of asphalt, concrete, and cars so I like to venture out and find new places for study and creating digital fine art. I use a unique style to combine digital images with digital painting to create artwork in the style of traditional mediums.

My Goal as a Digital Artist is to not only capture the same look, feel and style of natural mediums, but to master a process to make the work stand out on its own, not necessarily emulating a canvas oil painting. I have finally leaped beyond that first impediment which plagued me for years.....getting paint on a canvas.
